Synergy Multi-Academy Trust is made up of schools, both secondary and primary, from north Norfolk. The Trust was initially established by Reepham High School and College in 2015. Our vision is simple; for all of our schools to work together to provide teaching and learning of the highest quality and for all of them to provide an exceptional range of educational experiences and opportunities.
Reepham Solar Physics and Stargazing Evening
On Monday 19th March 2018, we will be hosting a stargazing evening with a guest lecture from Dr Helen Mason followed by trips to our observatory for (weather depending) some star gazing.
Helen is a Reader in Solar Physics at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics and has been based at Cambridge for over 35 years. Her field of research is solar physics, in particular the ultraviolet and X-ray spectrum of the Sun. She has worked on many joint UK, NASA, ESA and Japanese space projects including Skylab, the Solar Maximum Mission, Yohkoh, SoHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory), Hinode and SDO (Solar Dynamics Observatory). Helen has always been keen to convey her passion for solar physics to the general public and to school students. She has given many lectures to schools, and we are excited to have her with us for our upcoming Stargazing Evening. Timings for the event are:
- 4:30 – 5:30 pm: Solar Physics Lecture by Cambridge University Fellow Dr Helen Mason
- 6:00 – 9:00 pm: Observatory visits
If you can join us for any part of the evening, we would love to see you there. You do not have to attend the entire evening and can drop in at any time. The event is completely free to attend, but there will be a donations box if anyone would like to contribute to the upkeep of the observatory. Hot drinks and snacks will also be on offer during the evening.
