Students are taught in mixed ability groups in Years 7, 8 and in Year 9.
During Key Stage 3 pupils develop their creativity and imagination through more sustained activities. These learning objectives and outcomes help them build on, and improve their practical and critical skills, and to extend their knowledge and experience of materials, process and practice. They become more independent in using visual language to communicate their own ideas, feelings and meanings. Students are encouraged to refine and reflect, building up more confident technical skills as well as analysing and documenting personal opinions on the work of other artists and their own work as it progresses. A wide range of skills, techniques and processes from drawing and painting to ceramics and printmaking are introduced into the Key Stage 3 curriculum
