Melissa Wilson

Parent Governor

Currently I have two children at RHSC and feel I have the skills which the local governing board are looking for to broaden their existing skill set to improve the provision for all pupils and students.

As a teenager I moved to the UK from abroad. After finishing my A-levels in Norwich I went onto university in Portsmouth. Therefore I have first-hand experience of English being an alternative language as it is not my first language and having to adapt to the English educational system.

As the local governing board are hoping to offer better support to pupils and students with a disability or special educational need, I again have first-hand experience. I have a long-term medical condition and as a mother am aware of additional support children may require to make their time in education enjoyable and rewarding.

Volunteering has always been a part of my life as I find it very rewarding. When my children were younger, I was involved with preschool and primary school and until recently I was a member of St John Ambulance. Since January I have also supported the COVID testing at RHSC when pupils returned to school.

My current main job is for a holiday company where I have been 11 years and have progressed to management level. Therefore I feel I have developed many additional skills. However in January 2021 I decided, alongside my main job, to do the tiniest bit for the fight against COVID. So I now also work as a vaccinator for the NHS on both the mass and in school vaccination teams. This means part of my paediatric training relates well to vulnerable children.

As a governor, I will do my best to use my skills and knowledge to help to improve the school for all pupils.

Our Schools

Synergy Multi-Academy Trust comprises fifteen Norfolk schools serving children between the ages of 2 and 18. Our schools work collaboratively together to raise standards and provide education of the highest possible standard, offering the best of opportunities for pupils. The Trust was initially established in 2015. We believe that all of our schools have strengths and areas to develop, and that all can improve through sharing expertise and wisdom. The Trust understands that there will be excellent practice in each school, and that every school will be able to contribute to the development of the Trust as a whole.
